Police appeal for information on missing Ntinda pupil

Police in Kampala have appealed to the public for information on the whereabouts of a 10-year-old pupil of Quality Primary School, Ntinda, who went missing last month.
The missing child, identified as Dan Nelson Munyaneza, reportedly disappeared on July 26, 2026, after leaving his home in Kisaasi zone, Nakawa division, to collect a book from a friend.
According to Luke Owoyesigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan Police deputy spokesperson, Dan asked his mother for permission to go to a friend's home at about 8:00 am but did not return.
“Efforts by his family and neighbours to locate him were unsuccessful, prompting them to report the matter to police,” Owoyesigyire said.
He said police at Kira Road Police Station had since taken several steps to trace the missing pupil, including recording statements from people who may have information about his disappearance, following the route he could have taken and reviewing available CCTV footage.
“However, we have not been successful,” Owoyesigyire said.

He appealed to anyone who may have seen Dan or has information about his whereabouts to report to the nearest police station or contact police on 0740441520.
Owoyesigyire also urged members of the public to widely share the missing-child appeal on social media to help reunite Dan with his family.
He said police had previously relied on public assistance to trace missing persons and expressed hope that the same approach would help locate Dan.
“We have been appealing to members of the public in the past, and we have been successful in tracing missing persons. We hope for the same,” he said.
