CHRISTIANS | WAY OF THE CROSS

KAMPALA - Thousands of Christians have participated in the Way of the Cross, a yearly ecumenical event organised by the Uganda Joint Christian Council (UJCC).

The Way of the Cross is a two-mile procession to remember Jesus carrying his cross to Calvary, where he died 2022 years ago.

The Way of the Cross on a Good Friday is also marked in memory of the passion of Jesus Christ and his crucifixion.

Yearly, Christians mainly, the Catholics, Anglicans and Orthodox from all walks of life come together to reflect on the meaning of the Cross as a symbol of salvation.

Christians believe Jesus died for their sins and that if he had not died, no one would have eternal life.

The Friday event was commemorated at Old Kampala Secondary School playground in Kampala.

The Way of the Cross on a Good Friday is also marked in memory of the passion of Jesus Christ and his crucifixion.

Christians carried the crosses as a remembrance of the pain Jesus Christ went through while carrying the Cross to Calvary where he was crucified.

From Rubaga Cathedral, the procession was led by the Archbishop of Kampala Archdiocese Paul Ssemogerere, several dignitaries, Members of Parliament, among others also took part in the event.
