Physically challenged children get sh10m support

Physically challenged children at Mukono–Kayunga Road-based Noah’s Ark Children’s Village Uganda have received a boost of donations worth shillings 10 million.
The donation made as part of Finance Trust Bank's activities to mark International Women’s Day and forms part of its broader corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme aimed at supporting vulnerable communities across Uganda.
During a March 9, 2026, visit to the children’s home, officials from the bank handed over food and essential household supplies intended to improve the welfare and daily living conditions of children currently under the care of the facility.
The donated items, included posho, rice, beans, groundnuts, cooking oil, sugar, soya porridge, bread, tissue paper, diapers and cleaning supplies such as soap and detergents.
According to the bank, the supplies are meant to support the home’s daily nutritional and hygiene needs while easing the burden on caregivers responsible for raising and supporting the children.

Speaking during the handover ceremony, bank executive director Annette Kiggundu said the initiative reflects the bank’s commitment to supporting organisations that care for vulnerable children and strengthen communities.
“We strongly believe in supporting women, especially those who dedicate their lives to serving vulnerable children,” Kiggundu said.
“Children are very delicate members of our society. They need love, care and a supportive environment to thrive. We deeply appreciate the incredible work being done at Noah’s Ark Children’s Village to nurture and protect the lives of these physically challenged children.”
Kiggundu added that the donation also highlights their continued support for women-led initiatives that focus on improving the well-being of children and vulnerable families.
“Nakato Angella Hellen, who runs the day-to-day operations of Noah’s Ark Children’s Village, has built a foundation that continues to transform lives,” she said.
“Today, the home cares for children who were deserted by their parents, and we commend the team for the remarkable work they are doing.”
Founder and director of Noah’s Ark Children’s Village, Nakato Angela Hellen, expressed gratitude to the bank for supporting the home.
“We are grateful to Finance Trust Bank for remembering the children during this special day,” Nakato said.
She noted that caring for physically challenged children comes with significant financial and logistical challenges, but support from organisations such as Finance Trust Bank helps the home continue providing shelter, care and hope to the children.
Through such initiatives, Finance Trust Bank says it remains committed to promoting inclusive development and empowering communities, particularly women, families and vulnerable groups across Uganda.
