The managing director of Gama Pharmaceuticals Uganda Limited has been remanded to Luzira Prison over charges of embezzling shillings two billion from the company.

The Kampala city Nakasero-based Anti-Corruption Court, presided over by Principal Grade One Magistrate Paul Mujuni, on February 17, 2026, remanded Mohammed Mahfouz Osman Abdelrahman until March 6, 2026.

Mujuni informed Abdelrahman that he was remanding him because the magistrate in charge of the case was out of the station.

“You are hereby remanded to Luzira Prison until March 6, 2026, when you will be produced in court to answer the charges,” Mujuni said.

He is expected to appear before Principal Grade One Magistrate Christopher Opit, who has been assigned the case. Opit is currently out of the station on official duty.

Abdelrahman is facing charges of embezzlement, forgery, and uttering false documents in relation to sh2 billion.

The prosecution alleges that between July 2018 and December 2024, at Ntinda in Kampala City, Abdelrahman, while serving as the managing director of Gama Pharmaceuticals Uganda Limited, stole sh2 billion belonging to the company. It is alleged that he accessed the funds by virtue of his position as managing director.

Prosecution further contends that on or about June 10, 2020, in Kampala, Abdelrahman forged a board resolution of the company titled “Resolution” dated June 10, 2020, purporting that it had been signed by Amal El Hasaan as a director, which was not the case.

It is further alleged that on November 9, 2020, at the offices of the Uganda Registration Services Bureau in Kampala Central, Abdelrahman knowingly and fraudulently uttered a forged document purporting to be a board resolution of Gama Pharmaceuticals Uganda Limited.

Prosecution alleges that he presented the document to Zainabu Adoli, a registrar at the Uganda Registration Services Bureau, knowing it to be false.
