“Today, at 2:20pm our nation suffered a tragic air accident at Elgeyo Marakwet. I am deeply saddened to announce the passing of Gen. Francis Omondi Ogolla, the chief of the Kenya Defence Forces,” Kenya’s President William Ruto announced on Thursday.

Whereas Ogolla’s death has gripped the region, the item was not on Parliament’s order paper. Therefore, Peter Mugema (Iganga municipality, NRM) reminded the Speaker about the issue.

“This was not in your communication but I thought it wise that maybe in a spirit of solidarity. Our immediate neighbour, Kenya, yesterday there was a plane crash which killed the Chief of Defense Forces General Francis Ogolla. Maybe if you so wish, we observe a minute of silence,” Mugema said.

“I'm really sorry and I think my team should be blamed for that because they should have reminded me. My dear condolence goes to Kenya for the loss of the Chief of Defence Forces. May we rise for a moment of silence,” Among said.
