Kampala Metropolitan Police say at least 751 suspects are currently in custody following operations and incident responses across the city. The crackdown began on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, according to the Police.

The cases ranged from attempted armed robbery to road accidents and revenge attacks, with police maintaining that the Central Business District remained calm despite the incidents.

The most serious security alert came in the early hours at New Nana Girls Hostel in Wandegeya, where two armed thugs attempted to stage an aggravated robbery at around 3:30am.

According to Police, the attackers jumped into the premises with a rifle but were overpowered before they could execute their mission.

They abandoned the gun—a rifle numbered UG PSO SKS-D026476502617 loaded with four rounds, which was later retrieved by detectives and scene-of-crime officers led by the Officer in Charge of Operations at Wandegeya Police Station.

Elsewhere, Police responded to multiple road traffic incidents. A fatal accident occurred at Kawempe Lugoba at 1:00pm, where patrol vehicles, together with traffic officers, managed the scene.

Almost simultaneously, another fatal crash was reported in Kawempe Kawala, also in Lugoba, when a motorcycle, registration number UGA 279R TVS, lost control and crashed.

The passenger died instantly, and the case was registered at Kawala Police Station under reference TAR 23/2025.

In a separate case on the Northern Bypass near Naalya at around 9:00pm, an unidentified motorcyclist knocked and seriously injured a pedestrian before fleeing the scene.

The victim was rushed to Mulago National Referral Hospital in critical condition.

Meanwhile, in Kabusu, Wankulukuku-Sembule, Rubaga Division, an unidentified male suspected of theft was lynched by a mob.

The violent incident, which police have classified as suspected murder by mob action, was managed by a team of detectives and scene-of-crime officers, the Officer in Charge of Kabowa Police Station.
