A total of 16,678 young men and women hoping to join the Uganda Police Force as probationer police constables (PPCs) have been invited for interviews.
Police released the full list on the eve of Easter (April 19).
Those who have made the cut will now have a little over a week to prepare for the interviews that are scheduled to begin on April 28.
They have been picked from different districts across the country.
Typically, the preferred age of candidates for the PPC role is usually between 18 and 23 — and, more importantly, with no criminal record to their name.
And to stand any chance of making it to the next phase of the rigorous application process, a candidate is required to be physically and medically fit.
They must also be ready to undertake the mandatory year-long Police Basic Training.
Before thinking of applying, one should know they would have to be ready to "work for long hours and at times under difficult conditions", according to the Police.
Additionally, they should be ready to work in any part of the country.
And once the final best have been picked from the rest, they officially join the Police Force ready to enforce law and order, protect life and property, preserve law and order and prevent and detect crime.
