One arrested over murder by stabbing in Wakiso

Police are investigating a murder by stabbing that occurred at about 4:00pm on September 19, 2026, in Kabowa Banda Village, Mende Sub-County, Wakiso District.
It is alleged that following a disagreement, 24-year-old David Muwanguzi picked a piece of glass and stabbed 56-year-old Meddy Kisambira in the neck, causing him fatal injuries that resulted in his death.
Kampala Metropolitan Police deputy spokesperson Luke Owoyesigire, in a statement today (September 21), said they responded to the scene, processed and documented it, and recovered relevant exhibits.
"The suspect was arrested, while the body was conveyed to Mulago Kampala Capital City Authority Mortuary for postmortem examination," Owoyesigyire said.
He added that investigations into the matter are ongoing.

Five arrested over drug abuse
Meanwhile, Police at Matugga Police Division conducted a disruptive operation in Garamba and Busonko trading centres on September 20, 2026, at about 1:00am following public concerns over the activities of suspected drug users in the area.
The operation led to the arrest of five suspects, and suspected narcotic substances were recovered. "The suspects were charged and are pending arraignment before court," Owoyesigyire said.
He said Kampala Metropolitan Police will continue conducting operations against activities that undermine public safety and order.
