Police in Obongi district are investigating the rape of a 16-year-old primary school pupil who was attacked in the early hours of Saturday morning as she returned from a disco club.

Collins Asea, Police Spokesperson for North West Nile Region, confirmed that a suspect has been apprehended.
"It is alleged that the victim was returning from a disco club when she was attacked and raped by the suspect, Ibrahim Wongita, a 21-year-old businessman, resident of Mundu Cell, Obongi Town Council.
He has been taken into custody. Statements have been recorded from both parties, a medical examination has been conducted on the victim, and the crime scene has been documented", Asea revealed.
In caution against insecurity in the region, Asea issued a community advisory directed at parents.
"We urge parents to take their responsibilities seriously regarding child upbringing," he said.
He added, "It is increasingly challenging to control children who are left to fend for themselves or are placed in charge of household decisions. Community cooperation in parenting and supervision is essential to prevent such incidents.”
