Nyakasura, Ntare and Rushoroza confirmed as USSSA ball games hosts

Nyakasura School in Kabarole, Ntare School in Mbarara City and St Mary’s College Rushoroza in Mabale, have been confirmed hosts of the different Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Associations (USSSA) 2023 ball games.

The trio beat off competition from Duhaga SS in Hoima and Mbarara High School which had also tendered in their hosting bids.

According to the 2023 USSSA calendar in conjunction with the Physical Education and Sports department of the Ministry of Education and Sports, Ntare School will host the USSSA Fresh Diary Games due May 6-14, Nyakasura will host USSSA boys’ football from May 6-19, while St Mary’s College Rushoroza will host the USSSA Ball Games II due July 9-17.

“The final decision to name the hosting schools was made by the USSSA executive based on the recommendations by the USSSA technical team that carried out inspections of the schools that bided to host our events,” said USSSA president Justus Mugisha.

Ntare School last hosted the same Ball Games I in 2015 which Rushoroza hosted in 2017 and Nyakasura in 2018.

The calendar also pronounces other newly added USSSA competitions of mind games (scrabble, chess and ludo) and USSSA beach games (soccer, woodball and volleyball) set for 10th October and 5-10 November respectively.

International engagements that USSSA will take part in are also listed with the Africa Schools Basketball 3x3 championship set for February 26 to March 3 in Agadir, Morocco where Uganda will be represented by Buddo SS.

The May 16-23 ISF World Schools Beach Volleyball Championships in Israel, the July 22-31 World Schools Football Championships in Agadir, the August 19-27 ISF U15 Games in Brazil and the 20th edition of the FEASSSA Games in Bujumbura, Burundi, also make the USSSA calendar.

The national ball games qualifiers start with zonal qualifiers that are slated for March across the country, with the best teams qualifying to represent their zones.
