Three people have been confirmed dead after two vehicles including a commuter Passenger van number SSD 770 CK and bus Nile Star company UBG 085C were involved in a head-on collision at Karuma along the Kampala-Gulu Highway in Nwoya district.
The accident happened 800 meters from Karuma Bridge in the early hours of Friday, said a traffic officer who preferred to remain anonymous.
He said the taxi heading to Gulu, was overtaking a vehicle at a sharp bend when it collided with the bus heading to Kampala from Arua.

According to police, the van which had five occupants including the driver sped off!
Meanwhile, the bus wreckage remains at the Karuma police post.
Joseph Lilly Oryem, the LC1 chairman of Karuma central ward in Kiryandongo district said three bodies whose identities were not immediately available, remain at Anaka Mortuary General Hospital.
Investigations are ongoing to ascertain the exact cause of the accident but preliminary findings link the cause to overspeeding and reckless driving.
Police are searching for the runaway driver of the van.
