For Ugandans who arrived at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds unsure of how to obtain, renew or correct their identity documents, the My Identity Expo and Symposium 2026 offered something they had been searching for: clear guidance and solutions.
The three-day expo, organised by the National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA), brought identity and registration services closer to the public, helping visitors navigate processes that had previously left them confused or uncertain about where to begin.

For some, the expo provided an opportunity to complete a process they had struggled with for months. For others, it offered information on the next steps needed to resolve their registration challenges.
Sabila Namale, businesswoman from Ndejje Kibutika Market
“I came here to change my name and I have been told the process of how to go about it because I was clueless. I have done the paperwork for the change and I will visit a NIRA office near me, and I have been assured that it will be done.”

Francis Meron, security guard from Mbuya
“I came for a card renewal and I got it. It was a success.”
Martin Kasule, businessman
“I registered sometime back, but I didn’t get a message to confirm if my ID was ready. I didn’t know where to go or how to even start the process. When I came here, they directed me, saying the card is in Kira, so I will get it. I am so glad.”
Juliet Kyakyo, housewife from Nakwero

James Kavuma, driver of Sinotruk sand trucks from Kawanda
“I escorted a friend to the expo yesterday and decided to inquire about my lost ID. I lost my ID, so when I came yesterday, I began the process of getting another one. I got a message this morning that my National ID is at Kampala Central Office. I am happy; this expo has been very helpful.”
The experiences of the visitors highlight one of the key objectives of the expo: bringing registration services closer to the public while helping people understand the procedures required to obtain or correct their documents.
The My Identity Expo and Symposium 2026 was sponsored by MTN Uganda, Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA), Uganda Revenue Authority (URA), National Information Technology Authority-Uganda (NITA-U), Tahaluf and Bank of Uganda.
