The Uganda Netball Federation (UNF) is looking to help clubs create better brands with the newly hiked branding and licensing fees according to planning and organising chairman, Micheal Kakande.

“We called a team managers’ meeting and one of the big talking points was the licensing fee. We have two versions of the fee which are sh2.5m and sh5m. Some were asking what sh2m is going to do and what sh5m can do,” said Kakande.

This membership fee determines who becomes a full member of the association and who becomes an associate member ― this is what you get.

Kakande stressed that the federation has earmarked September 24 as the official throw-off date of the league.

A full member enjoys all the benefits and privileges like deliberating at the assembly to be voted for or against. Full members can get bigger sponsorship packages than associate members which is an added bonus.

There will be entry fees at the three identified league venues which include Old Kampala Arena, TLC Kamwokya and Greater Busia Lions Arena.

“Our plan is to have about four games on a match day. All teams are at home which means the first team you read on your left is the home team and will be the beneficiaries of the gate collections. So the four teams you have at home will share 80 percent of the collection and the UNF will take 20 percent,” explained Kakande.

UNF has every intention to introduce floodlit netball because at the time some games take place people are at work. The idea is to allow other stakeholders to watch these games after work.

Games are expected to start at 9:00 am but the last game of the day should start at 6:00 pm.
