Two Catholic dioceses, Nebbi and Soroti, are set to ordain 21 priests and deacons this weekend.
In both dioceses, 11 will become priests, while 10 seminarians will become deacons in the Catholic Church.
On July 11th, the Soroti Diocese will hold an ordination ceremony conducted by the Diocesan Bishop, Dr Joseph Oliach Eciru, at St. Andrew’s Parish in Anyara.
During this ceremony, five deacons will be ordained as priests: Marvin Otukene, Bosco Oumen, Emmanuel Omoding, Isaac Ogwang, and Cassian Omongot.

Headquartered at the Immaculate Conception Cathedral, the Diocese of Soroti was established on November 29, 1980. It currently encompasses the districts of Soroti, Katakwi, Amuria, Kapelebyong, Kalaki, Kaberamaido, Serere, Ngora, Kumi, and Bukedea.
In Nebbi, six priests and five seminarians will be ordained at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral.
The priests to be elevated to the priesthood are: Cosmas Anyaku, Moses Okwenuku, Godwin Ngamiko, Jimmy Cankoboko, Raphael Ochopi, and Saviour Awekumong. The individuals who will be ordained as deacons are: Richard Ocaki, Mark Kartha, Jerome Adrioleni, Brian Jawlambe, and Maxwell Gingyera.
The Nebbi Catholic Diocese, established on February 23, 1996, is located in northwestern Uganda and covers the districts of Nebbi, Zombo, Pakwach, and Madi-Okollo.
The deacon's ministry includes three dimensions: liturgy, word, and service. During the liturgy, the deacon assists the bishop and priests at Mass, proclaims the Gospel, may be invited to preach the homily, and helps at the altar.
