Ndiga clan murder suspects’ trial deferred to August 5

The trial of five suspects charged with the murder of Eng. Daniel Kakeeto Bbosa, the former head of the Ndiga (Sheep) Clan, has been adjourned to August 5 due to the absence of the trial judge.
When the case came up for hearing today (July 23), the judge’s research assistant informed court that Justice David Matovu of the High Court Criminal Division was unavailable, prompting an adjournment.
Three of the five suspects were also not produced in court despite an earlier production warrant issued by the judge directing prison authorities to present them for plea taking.
Those who appeared in court are; Luggya Bbosa Tabula and Ezra Mayanja. The suspects who were not produced are; Noah Lujja, Harriet Nakiguli and Joseph Nakabale. All the accused have been on remand at Luzira Prison since March 11, 2024.
The accused are represented by lawyer Richard Kumbuga, while the state is represented by state attorney Carol Tabaro.
Tabula is alleged to be the mastermind behind the fatal shooting of Bbosa, who was killed near his home in Kikandwa zone, Lungujja, Rubaga division, on February 25, 2024. Tabula is also claiming to be the rightful Ndiga clan head.
On July 30, 2024, police recovered suspected human remains, including 17 skulls, during a raid on shrines allegedly owned by Tabula in Kabanga village, Mpigi district.
The operation followed a tip-off from a resident, who became suspicious of a metallic suitcase reportedly kept inside one of the shrines.
Allegations
Prosecution alleges that the accused, together with others still at large, on February 25, 2024, at Kikandwa, Lungujja, in Rubaga division, Kampala city, with malice aforethought, unlawfully caused the death of Bbosa.
Museveni honours civilian
On March 4, 2024, President Yoweri Museveni awarded Abdul Katabaazi with the Nalubaale Medal for his bravery in pursuing and helping to capture the suspects linked to Bbosa's murder.
“I want to congratulate you; you have done a heroic job. You have now become a bush war fighter like me,” Museveni said while presenting the award.
Katabaazi, a plumber and motorcycle rider from Kikandwa zone in Lungujja, chased and helped apprehend the attackers shortly after they allegedly shot Bbosa.
Bbosa, 72, who was also the director of Transa Electricals, was gunned down while driving towards his home in Kikandwa zone, Lungujja, Rubaga division.
