KAMPALA - Security minister Gen. Jim Muhwezi has assured the country and delegates coming to Uganda for the NAM (Non-Aligned Movement) and G-77+China summits that Uganda is safe and secure.
The minister says there will be no disturbances orchestrated by the Allied Democratic Forces considering that the group based in DR Congo has been meticulously decimated.
He says that the rebel group has greatly been weakened by the Uganda army and cannot attack the city because of the high security.
It should be noted that Kampala, where the summits are to be held is several hundreds of kilometres from the few attacks suspected to have been done by ADF have been.
Gen. Muhwezi was on Thursday speaking to the media about the state of security in the country as the country gears up for the two summits expecting over 5,000 dignitaries from different countries. This was at the Uganda Media Centre in Kampala.
Muhwezi added that the level at which the ADF has been weakened is also reflected in the way they operate.
