Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja has urged senior Police officers who have been undergoing a one-year training course to be patriotic as they serve the country.
“If you don’t love your country as senior Police and Prisons officers, you cannot support the Government’s agenda of socio-economic transformation to improve the livelihoods of the people,” Nabbanja said.
Nabbanja made the call on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, while delivering a lecture senior officers on the Senior Command and Staff Course intake 008/2024-2025, on opportunities at the Police Senior Command and Staff College Bwebajja where a total of 41 senior Police and prisons officers have been undergoing training for the last one year.
Nabbanja delivered a paper under the topic: Service with Patriotism, upholding duty, discipline and democratic values.

Nabbanja noted that security is the lowest common multiple of development and appealed to the officers to jealously guard the prevailing peace ushered in by the National Resistance Movement government.
She explained the four NRM principles that are vital in service delivery in the country.
“The four core principles of the (NRM) in Uganda are: Patriotism, pan-africanism, socio-economic transformation, and democracy, according to President Yoweri Museveni. These principles are considered vital for promoting prosperity and building strong institutions. Therefore, as senior Police officers, you need to adhere to them,” said Nabbanja.
The premier noted that because of the able and visionary leadership of President Museveni, Uganda is now progressing well, unlike in the past regimes.
She reiterated the need for the senior Police officers to lead by example and desist from sectarianism, nepotism and favouritism while executing their duties.
“When you, the senior Police officers, do not lead by example, you cripple the junior officers. You should desist from any forms of corruption for the good of the country,” said Nabbanja.
Nabbanja cautioned the Police officers not to rely on the meagre salary they get from the Government but also engage in income-generating activities to supplement their salary.

“I urge you to maintain discipline, respect for human rights, ethical code of conduct and put service above self,” said Nabbanja.
Nabbanja asked the officers to always work for the mission of securing people’s lives and property.
She commended the management of Bwebajja for the continuous training offered to police and prisons aimed at building operational, strategic and specialised capabilities of the Uganda Police Force to meet the increasing security and crime challenges in the policing sector locally and internationally.
The Police officers appealed to the government to support their spouses who stay in the Police Barracks to also start engaging in productive business as the men and women serve the country.
“We appeal to the government through you Rt. Hon. to support our spouses back in the Barracks so that they don’t keep idle but contribute to national development,” said Isaac Amanya, one of the senior police officers.
Nabbanja assured the officers that the Government will address their issue of spouses who remain unproductive in barracks so that they also join the money economy.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Dr Babrah Alungat, the college commandant, commended Nabbanja for the lecture.
