Muslims in Busia district celebrated Eid al-Adha amid calls to observe the standard operating procedures (SOPs) to prevent the spread of Ebola.
Sheikh Jamilu Juma Obanjo, the Busia district kadhi, while presiding over the Eid al-Adha celebrations at Madibira Primary School playground in Busia Municipality, expressed gratitude that President Yoweri Museveni had not barred Muslims from assembling for Eid prayers.
"Some of us had fears that since Martyrs' Day celebrations have been postponed, we would be barred from holding Eid prayers," Obanjo said.

He consequently appealed to Muslims to celebrate Eid from their homes to avoid the spread and contraction of the disease.
Obanjo also appealed to Ugandans to remain calm and cope with the rising cost of living resulting from the conflict in Iran. He also prayed for peace and harmonious living in the Arab world.
