KAMPALA - Muslims gathered at Old Kampala National Mosque on Tuesday to celebrate the memorial of the Muslim Martyrs who were killed because of their faith.
75 Muslims were executed on the orders of Kabaka Mutesa 1 after refusing to eat meat prepared by non-circumcised personnel, which they viewed as unclean under Islamic law.
Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC) head Mufti Ramathan Mubajje presided over the event, promising to investigate the alleged mismanagement of sh200 million funds provided by government to help during the commemoration of the event.
Third deputy Prime Minister Rukia Nakadama represented President Yoweri Museveni at the event, urging Muslims to remain united.

At the event, Nakadama also launched a book on the brief of the Muslim Martyrs in Uganda, appealing to the Muslim faithful to make a correction of some of the historical information related to Muslim matters.
