Newly elected Kampala City Lord Mayor Eng. Ronald Nsubuga Balimwezo has condemned the growing scandals involving leaders who receive donated items meant for the poor and vulnerable people but fail to deliver them to the intended beneficiaries.

Balimwezo made the remarks while at his home in Mutungo where he distributed relief items to Muslims observing the holy month of Ramadhan. The items included posho, cooking oil and spaghetti to support those fasting.

Balimwezo thanked Mukwano Industries for supporting the initiative by providing the items that were distributed.

He also appealed to non-Muslims to join in helping those who cannot support themselves during this period, emphasising that generosity should extend to everyone in need.

Balimwezo urged leaders who receive donations to ensure that they deliver them to the rightful beneficiaries instead of misusing them, saying leaders should set good examples to the communities they serve.

He further appreciated fellow leaders who joined him in distributing the items to Muslims for Iftar meals during the month of Ramadan.
