Museveni writes to judiciary, orders probe into acquittal of State House employee

In his letter dated October 3, 2025, Museveni said: “By Copy of this letter, I request the Chief Justice to review the case of Joram Itungo. How did he get bail and acquitted in such a serious accusation notwithstanding?” Museveni added: “How did Kato get released? This will be handled by Major General David Mugisha of Special Forces Command. Do not be intimidated. We shall crash the criminals.” 

Police and other security officers lead Itungo (second-right) to KCCA Hall Court where he was charged with conspiracy to murder Portuguese national Carlos Patricio Cohen. This was on May 17, 2024.
