Museveni mourns Hamson Obua's brother

President Yoweri Museveni has mourned former principal Science officer in the ministry of science, technology and innovation Jasper Okello, who is also Government Chief Whip Denis Hamson Obua's elder brother.

Museveni said as a country they have lost a young skilled man who was scheduled to transfer his services to the ministry of water and environment as a principal forestry officer.

Okello, the elder brother of Government Chief Whip Denis Hamson Obua, succumbed to a lung infection last week.

According to Obua, Okello developed complications from Lira, but passed on as he was being rushed to Mulago National Referral Hospital in Kampala for treatment.

Okello, 46 is survived by two children and was buried at Amindit village in Abako sub-county, Alebtong district on Friday, December 23.

In a condolence message delivered by Vice-President Jessica Alupo Epel, Museveni said Okello`s skills and services were scheduled to benefit Uganda, especially at this time when the country is facing challenges of climate change.

“As a country, we have lost a young skilled man who has departed at the time we needed him most where his skills and experience were going to benefit the country,” Museveni said.

Museveni extended his heartfelt condolences on behalf of the Government and his behalf about the demise of Okello to the family and the people of Lango.

Museveni gave a condolence contribution of sh10m to help the family to settle burial expenses.

Others mourners included Prime minister Robinah Nabbanja, Alupo, Speaker Annet Anita Among and Deputy Speaker of Parliament Thomas Tayebwa among others. 

Obua, who is the last born in a family of four, lauded President Museveni for his contribution and also for standing with the family during the trying moment.
