Museveni has assumed chairmanship of African Peer Review

President Museveni has assumed the chairmanship of the African Peer Review (APRM), positioning Uganda at the forefront of continental governance and developmental priorities.

Vice President Jessica Alupo received the instruments of power on behalf of President Museveni during the 35th Ordinary Session of the African Peer Review Forum of Heads of State and Government in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on Friday, February 13, 2026.

Algerian Prime Minister, Sifi Ghrieb, representing Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune (the outgoing chair), handed over the instruments to Uganda's VP Alupo, who was accompanied by Amos Lugoloobi, the Minister of State for Finance and Economic Planning.

At the event, President Museveni donated $1m (about sh3.5b) towards the APRM.

Uganda will chair the APRM Forum for a two-year term from 2026 to 2028.
