President Yoweri Museveni has hailed Born-Again churches in Uganda for pioneering work in growth and development, lifting many people out of poverty.

During his visit to Rubaga Miracle Centre Cathedral for the Command the Future Conference on Friday, November 14, 2025, Museveni said that when some people wanted to ban Born-Again churches, he objected.
“I stood my ground because I couldn’t play God’s role to know who was right and who was wrong,” Museveni said.

He added that Born-Again Churches have pioneered developmental projects and have stood with the Government to lift people out of poverty.
President Museveni urged Christians to emulate Jesus Christ, who walked this earth thousands of years ago, healed the sick, fed the hungry, and also laboured and was productive.

“When Jesus was here, he healed the sick, fed the hungry, and worked in Joseph’s carpentry. Although he had a full-time ministry, he did some work,” he said.
The President referred to America, the richest country on earth, as having been built by Puritans, who were largely Christians.

“America was built by Christians. The Puritans who built America were fleeing from Europe because of persecution. You Christians have to lead people by doing good deeds, so that you may be emulated by many,” he said.
Freedom of worship
Pastor Robert Kayanja hailed President Museveni for granting the Born Again Christians freedom of worship.

“We used to be referred to as churches in papyrus reeds. But we have been able to build cathedrals, thanks to the peace and freedom you have granted to us,” he said.
He said the conference, which focuses on themes of faith, leadership, wealth creation, and prophecy, will host entities such as MTN and Coca-Cola, among others, to provide mentorship on advancing financial well-being.

“The conference has brought together some of the greatest coaches in leadership, church, business, wealth creation and is being conducted by world-renowned teachers, some of whom will jet into the country on their private jets,” he said.
