KIRYANDONGO - The territorial police in Kiryandongo have recovered munitions and military gear from suspected robbers in Nyamusasa cell, Central ward, Bweyale town council, Kiryandongo district.

Albertine Region Police spokesperson Julius Allan Hakiza said the munitions were among exhibits recovered following a robbery in the area. Stolen phones and SIM cards were also retrieved.

Five suspects have been arrested. Hakiza identified them as Sunday Komagum, Ismail Mawa, Martine Oboke, Stephen Ocaya, and Umar Asiku.



According to Hakiza, the victim, Okello Richard, 49, was attacked at around 5:00 am and robbed of two phones valued at 140,000 shillings at gunpoint.

Suspect lynched

Meanwhile, in Kakumiro district, police are investigating an incident of mob justice and attempted murder that occurred on April 2, 2025, in Kihogoro village, Kyemengo parish, Kisengwe sub-county.

Julius Mbabazi, 30, and Herbert Tumwijukye, 20, both peasant farmers from Kihogoro village, were attacked by a mob on allegations of theft, resulting in Mbabazi's death.

The two were accused of stealing 70 kilograms of fresh coffee beans and a mattress belonging to Edward Batalingaya and Gerald Byamukama.
