Muhabura Diocese Church of Uganda has announced a succession plan for the new Bishop after Bishop Cranmer Mugisha officially announced to the Diocese synod members that he is retiring.

John Tereraho head of Laity for Uganda Anglican Provincial Church confirmed this and said the process of appointing a new Bishop to replace Mugisha will take a period of eight months.

Tereraho said the Bishop made the announcement of his resignation during the Diocesan Synod Meeting in Kisoro district.

Tereraho said Bishop Mugisha in his communication to the synod informed them that he shared his intention of early retirement with Former Archbishop Hennery Luke Orombi who consecrated him as a Bishop.

The Synod has appointed Counsel Ernest Mushime Sendegeya as the diocesan chancellor.

Sendegeya will lead a committee of 15 people that will select two names from the diocese to the house of bishops.
