The long-awaited celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Anglican Diocese of Kampala finally took place at the new All Saints Cathedral, Kampala on Sunday (August 21, 2022).

It was presided over by the Archbishop of the Church of Uganda (who is also the Bishop of the Diocese of Kampala), the Most Rev. Dr. Samuel Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu.

The function, which attracted several political and religious dignitaries, had a lot of interesting activities, one of which was the official opening of the newly constructed 5,000-seater All Saints’ Cathedral, Kampala, and the launching of the fundraising campaign for the purchase of the sh9.8b piece of land behind the new Cathedral.

The function’s other highlights included a business exhibition and the repentance and return to the Church of Rev. Canon Samuel Lubogo.

The magnitude of the function was greatly boosted by the presence of over 20 Anglican Bishops, several clerics and government dignitaries, including the former Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. Ruhakana Ruganda, Hon. David Bahati, Dr. Henry Mwebesa (the Director General Health Services) and the former Chief Justice, Benjamin Odoki.
