Police in Mbale city are holding a woman in connection with the fatal stabbing of Jonathan Wanambwa, a popular music MC at Oak Bar, who was killed on the night of September 9, 2025.

The incident, recorded under reference number CRB 223/09/2025, occurred at Muyembe cell, Maluku ward, Industrial Division.

According to the police report, Fahad Musa Bulya, a resident of Muyembe cell who reported the case, said the 33-year-old Wanambwa was attacked at his rented home following a quarrel involving two women.

“It is alleged that on Tuesday night, at around 9:20 pm, a woman identified as Sonia Hellya visited the deceased after being invited. Upon entering the house, she found another woman, later identified as Geraldine Namono, seated on the bed,” reads the police report.

“When Namono saw Sonia, she began quarrelling with the deceased. The deceased reportedly instructed Namono to leave, but in the process, Sonia saw her pull out a sharp object and stab Wanambwa in the back,” he added.

Neighbours, who responded to the deceased’s alarm, found him lying in a pool of blood outside the house.

They rushed him to Mbale Regional Referral Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The same neighbours apprehended Namono and handed her over to police.

The body is currently at Mbale City Mortuary pending postmortem and formal identification.
