Matovu's murder: Detectives search home of main suspect

Police detectives on Friday, September 25, 2026, searched the home of Vincent Arnold Nsamba, the prime suspect in the murder of legendary singer Moses Matovu, who was murdered on Thursday, September 24, 2026, in the Kibuli suburbs, Kampala District.
A few hours after he allegedly fled the crime scene, Nsamba was nabbed from a hideout in Ocheng Ward, Yesu Amala, Nansana Division, Wakiso District. The hunt was mounted by a joint security team.
During the search on Friday, detectives recovered the clothes (jacket, shirt and trousers) Nsamba wore on Thursday when he fatally assaulted Matovu.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased was hit as he tried to stop the accused from beating Rose Tusiime, whom he claimed to be his girlfriend.
Nsamba was arrested in Nansana after the arrest of his mother who helped police to trace his son to where he was hiding.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased was hit as he tried to stop the accused from beating Rose Tusiime, whom he claimed to be his girlfriend.
Nsamba was arrested in Nansana after the arrest of his mother who helped police to trace his son to where he was hiding.
On Thursday, Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Racheal Kawala said preliminary investigations indicate that at approximately 5:30 a.m., Matovu went to the residence of Tusiime, identified as his lover.
“It is alleged that as he left the rental in the company of the lady, they were confronted by a male suspect (Nsamba) reported to have an affair with the same lady.
Preliminary reports indicate that the incident may have arisen from a physical altercation. However, the exact circumstances surrounding the confrontation and subsequent death are yet to be fully established,” she said.
Kawala said the late Matovu sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Kibuli Hospital by a boda boda rider, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
