In a bid to improve safety of all Namugongo-bound foot pilgrims from Kasese district, MTN Uganda has donated reflector jackets and drinking water.
The telecom company has also offered shillings 20 million to the Catholic Diocese of Kasese, a timely relief as the Church continues seeking the remaining shillings two billion of shillings 4.5 billion required for them to successfully lead the June 3, 2026, event at Namugongo Martyrs Shrine in Wakiso district.
Bishop Francis Aquirinus Kibira of the Kasese Catholic Diocese blessing donated items from MTN Uganda.
The donations were handed over to Bishop Francis Aquirinus Kibira by the telecom's western region commercial head, Andrew Tusubira, on May 5, 2026, at the Church's headquarters in Kasese municipality.
Tusubira said the donation is a reflection of the company’s commitment to supporting national and spiritual events that bring communities together for a noble cause.
This year's Martyrs' Day celebrations are based on a theme: Christ is Alive in You and Me.
