Police are investigating the murder of a 25-year-old woman allegedly killed by her husband following a domestic dispute.
The deceased, identified as Christine Achom, was reportedly stabbed to death on March 18, 2026, in Kangura B Village, Morukebu Parish, Tororo district.
According to Bukedi South regional police spokesperson Moses Mugwe, the suspect, 28-year-old Martin Ibatani, allegedly attacked his wife after she expressed intentions to leave the marriage, accusing him of theft.
“The suspect stabbed the victim multiple times in the face and abdomen, killing her instantly,” Mugwe said.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect had allegedly stolen a pig in the area and went into hiding before returning home, where the fatal altercation occurred.
He later reported himself to a local council leader, who alerted police.
Achom's body was taken to Tororo Municipal Mortuary for a postmortem examination while the suspect remained in custody as investigations continued.
Police have condemned the incident and urged the public to resolve disputes peacefully.
