Makerere University Business School (MUBS) forward Clinton Watumbe chose to focus on the positives after a narrow 9-8 loss to KOBS in the National Lacrosse League.

MUBS made the most of their home advantage at the university playground in Nakawa to rally late to secure an unlikely victory but they had left themselves with too deep a hole to dig themselves out of.

“Despite the loss, we are focused on making our plays more efficient by perfecting our final ball in the opponent’s area,” Watumbe noted.

Owen Waluku and Shafik Sserugo each scored a hattrick for the university side while for KOBS’, Benjamin Ojok netted four, Solomon Adiyo, Steven Akena, Silver Owere, Aron Otim, and Max Phillips found the back of the net.

KOBS started the game with six first-half goals but MUBS regrouped to narrow the deficit but it was ultimately not enough.

The win propelled KOBS into second place in the league standings with six points, three behind leaders Warriors.

KOBS versatile player Max Phillips believes his side’s never-say-die attitude enabled them to win the game against a tough MUBS side.

“We have all it takes to win games only if we continue keeping our concentration levels intact during the latter minutes of the game,” Phillips said after Saturday's game.

According to Uganda Lacrosse Association (ULA) general secretary Sam Otoa, the league will take a two-week break.

“Ware set to always have league games at the MUBS field every two weeks in the quest of promoting the sport’s fundamental principles,” he noted.
