The Kyabazinga of Busoga, William Wilberforce Gabula Nadiope IV, has appointed Uganda’s Third Deputy Prime Minister Rukia Isanga Nakadama, who is also Minister without Portfolio, to a 16-member committee tasked with spearheading preparations for his forthcoming 13th coronation anniversary.
A statement by Busoga Katukiro Dr Joseph Muvawala dated August 3, 2026, revealed that the Kyabazinga had appointed his culture minister, Richard Mafumo, as chairperson of the committee, with Nakadama as his deputy.
The coronation anniversary is slated for September 12, 2026, in Bunha chiefdom, which covers the current Mayuge district, where Nakadama is the area woman legislator.
The committee comprises politicians, members of the business community, kingdom ministers and other officials. The Kyabazinga reminded the team to uphold the values, dignity and traditions of the Busoga kingdom in all its activities.
He brought on board Jinja tycoon Martin Tibalira, who was among the mobilisers during the 2023 royal wedding preparations, alongside Swaibu Kitezaala, proprietor of Jinja Progressive Academy.
The Kyabazinga also appointed comedian-turned-politician Hussein Muyonjo, the Member of Parliament for Jinja Northern Division, as a mobiliser in charge of entertainment.

His counterparts, Alex Ekoro, Saleh Mpaata and Stephen Kisa Bakubalwayo, the MPs for Bunya East, Bunya South and Luuka South respectively, were appointed mobilisers and liaisons for legislators.
Andrew Ntange, the kingdom's information minister, commended the Kyabazinga for the trust he has placed in him since 2014, when he was given different responsibilities on his coronation anniversary preparation committees.
The deputy resident district commissioner in charge of Njeru Municipality in Buikwe district was assigned responsibility for protocol and security.
“Some people may look at this task as small, but it is very big to catch the king’s eye, and I am thankful to God for the trust,” he said.
Meanwhile, the kingdom's health minister, Dr Andrew Balyeku, was tasked with overseeing the health camp, while Ivan Kiirya was assigned finance and Nasabu Nantale, from the education docket, was tasked with liaising with institutions.
Yudaya Babirye and Agatha Kayemba were appointed liaison officials from the Kyabazinga's and Katukiro's offices, respectively.
Others on the committee are Prince Richard Naika Waiswa, who is in charge of hospitality, and Salim Magumba, who was tasked with mobilising the youth.
“On behalf of the Kyabazinga of Busoga, I am pleased to inform you of your appointment to serve on the organising committee for the 13th coronation anniversary of His Royal Highness, scheduled to take place on September 12, 2026,” it reads.
According to Muvawala, the appointments were made in recognition of the members' commitment, leadership and dedication to the development of Obwa Kyabazinga Bwa Busoga (OBB).
The team is expected to mobilise resources and stakeholders to ensure what Muvawala described as successful celebrations. Members are also expected to attend all committee meetings and report on the progress of their respective assignments.
“I trust you will serve with diligence, integrity and pride as we celebrate the 12 years of His Royal Highness’ reign and our rich Busoga culture. Congratulations, and we look forward to working with you,” it concludes.
Mafumo pledged to deliver on the responsibilities assigned to him, including planning and coordinating all activities related to his docket for the anniversary.
Meanwhile, the Katukiro called for decent dressing during the celebrations, urging men to wear kanzu and women to wear gomesi.
He challenged Busoga subjects to prioritise the kingdom over their respective political parties by turning up in large numbers for the celebrations.
