Police in Lira City West Division have launched investigations into the death of a Kenyan produce dealer whose body was found inside his rented room in Camp Swahili cell on Tuesday morning.
The lifeless body of Sam Jenga, aged about 50, was discovered in his room by the Police, who were alerted by another Kenyan national who lived in the same area.
Patrick Jimmy, the North Kyoga Regional Police spokesperson, revealed that Jenga had been living in Camp Swahili, where he worked as a produce trader.
The incident was first reported by Issa Wamari, 37, also a Kenyan national residing in the same area, who reached out to Lira-City West Division Police.
The police rapid response team, led by the Division Police Commander, rushed to the scene where they broke down the door to access the room, took photographs, and conducted scene documentation.
Several items belonging to the deceased, including his bag, clothes, phone and medicines, were recovered and taken to the station as exhibits.
By press time, police said the Lodge’s manager had not yet recorded a statement as inquiries continue.
The body was taken to Lira Regional Referral Hospital for a postmortem examination to establish the cause of death.
