KAMPALA - In the latest move to enforce the Buildings Control Act, Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) has demolished two structures in Kampala Central Division.
Building Control (Amendment) Act, 2026, governs building standards, approvals, and structural safety nationwide.
The KCCA spokesperson, Daniel NuweAbiine, said that one of the structures pulled down on Thursday, October 1, was located on Baskerville Street in Kololo. He accused the developer of violating planning and building approval.
The other structure demolished was reportedly constructed in the road reserve on Nakasero Road near the Kampala Resident District Commissioner’s office.
NuweAbine said the structure had encroached on a road reserve, urging that KCCA restore the place to its original space.

“We have carried out similar operations in Nakawa, Makindye, Kawempe, and now we are enforcing in Kampala Central to ensure that public space is developed according to Plans well as owners sticking to plans.”
He revealed that the developers had permission to erect structures but violated the plan. Others, he added, occupied the road reserve where people are supposed to walk.
"For every development, owners need to correct and get permission from KCCA,” he stressed.
