Kaziimba bids farewell to South Ankole Diocese, calls for Christian unity

The outgoing Archbishop of the Province of the Church of Uganda, Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu, has called on Christians to remain united, saying unity is essential for the growth and progress of the Church.
Kaziimba made the remarks on June 5, 2026, during a farewell service at St Matthew's Cathedral, Kyamate, in South Ankole Diocese, where he urged both clergy and lay Christians to work together in harmony.
"Unity brings success, but when people are divided, they fall," he said, adding that peace, love and togetherness are essential for strengthening the Church.
Kaziimba encouraged Christians to uphold peace and reconciliation, saying the Church can only flourish when believers remain committed to serving God and one another in unity.

He praised the Bishop of South Ankole Diocese, Nathan Ahimbisibwe, describing him as one of the most cheerful bishops in the Province of the Church of Uganda and a leader who has distinguished himself through wisdom and peaceful conflict resolution.
Bishop Ahimbisibwe commended Archbishop Kaziimba for his dedicated leadership, saying his stewardship strengthened the Church of Uganda, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic, when he offered spiritual guidance and encouraged Christians across the country.
The service attracted several religious, government and local leaders, including Rev. Fr John Baptist Tumusiime of Ntungamo Catholic Parish, Provincial Chancellor Naboth Muhairwe, Prof. Mugisha Katekyeza, deputy head of laity for South Ankole Diocese, Ntungamo resident district commissioner Mariam Kageiga and her deputy, Rosemary Atuhaire, Ntungamo district LC5 chairperson Samuel Mucunguzi, chief administrative officer Fedelis Kiiza, and Ntungamo Municipality deputy mayor Edidah Kanuma.
