Katungi extradited to US over drug, arms trafficking charges

According to a reliable source, Katungi was picked up from Luzira at about 6:00am on Saturday and handed over to US officials at the American Embassy, where he underwent a medical examination. He was subsequently driven to Entebbe, placed on a chartered aircraft and flown to the US state of Virginia, where he is expected to stand trial.

Katungi is wanted in the US, where he faces several charges, including conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute 5kg or more of cocaine, knowing or intending that it would be unlawfully imported into the US.
