Four suspects charged as accessories to the murder of businessman Henry Katanga have been committed to the High Court for trial.
They are Martha Nkwanzi, Patricia Kakwanza, George Amanyire and Charles Otai.
Nakawa Chief Magistrate Elias Kakooza committed them to the High Court for trial after the prosecution, led by Assistant DPP Samali Wakooli, tendered in court an indictment indicating that investigations in the case are complete.
Nkwanzi and Kakwanza, all daughters to the late Katanga, are charged with destroying evidence in his murder, while Amanyire, a domestic worker and Otai, a nursing officer who was called to the deceased’s home after the murder, are charged as accessories to the alleged murder of Katanga.
Katanga, a renowned Kampala city moneylender, allegedly succumbed to a gunshot wound he sustained on the left side of his head after a verbal exchange with his wife Molly Katanga.
In the case, Molly, the widow, is charged with the murder of her husband on November 2, 2023, at their residence at Mbuya Chwa II Road in Nakawa division, Kampala.
Prosecution alleges that with malice aforethought, Molly caused the death of Katanga on November 2, 2023.
Molly is yet to appear in court because she remains hospitalised at the International Hospital in Kampala (IHK) where she was admitted on November 2, 2023 after the incident.
Court has since issued criminal summons against her to appear in court to be formally charged as soon as she recovers from the wounds which she allegedly sustained on the fateful day.
