Residents of Ngariam and Okore Sub-counties in Katakwi District are calling for urgent government intervention over a prolonged land dispute that has disrupted livelihoods and created uncertainty among affected families.

Residents say the long-running Okore land conflict has denied them access to gardens, disrupted farming activities, and affected household incomes.

Some families report being forced to abandon their homes due to fear of eviction and continued disagreements over land ownership.

Residents of Okore Sub-county also say the dispute has affected children’s education, as many parents are unable to raise school fees following poor harvests.

They are now urging the Ministry of Lands and district authorities to urgently resolve the matter before the situation worsens.

Okore Sub-county Speaker Sam Osinge has called for expedited investigations to establish rightful ownership of the contested land.

Katakwi LCV Chairperson Geoffrey Omolo has urged calm among residents, saying efforts are ongoing to find a lasting solution.
