Kassanda district Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Phoebe Namulindwa has asked the district leaders to follow up on beneficiaries of different government programs and have their names displayed. This, she said, will provide evidence about people who are taking advantage of them.
Namulindwa was addressing residents in different subcounties, where he launched the construction of several roads on Tuesday (June 16).
Over 100 kilometres of roads are to be constructed, which will sort out the challenge of the roads the people of Kassanda have been facing.
“It’s a pity that some people benefit from these programs secretly, but when they go to public, they talk ill of the government and fail others to benefit. The display of the names of the beneficiaries will help us to stop those who are confusing others and those who tarnish the image of the government,” Namulindwa said.
The programs include the Parish Development Model (PDM), Emyooga, Youth Livelihood Program, among others.

Namulindwa's team started from Kamuli subcounty, from where they inspected infrastructure in: Myanzi, Nalutuntu, Kiganda, Manyogaseka and Makokoto.
While at Kamuli, the residents who gathered to witness the commission of the construction of the road reported with concern that there are some opposition politicians who had publicly campaigned against the PDM, while in some cases, leaders extorted money from PDM beneficiaries, yet he does not support the government programs.
She was supported by Langton Buwembo, a district councilor representing Kamuli subcounty, who declined to name the accused but confirmed that he has been receiving the complaints.
“We have received complaints of people receiving less money as they are charged, and there are many others in communities who are confusing the public that the programs are not good,” he said.
In Nalutuntu subcounty, similar complaints were raised about the government programs, especially PDM, as the residents reported that they are charged a lot of money before receiving the one million.
RDC Namulindwa asked the residents to report all those extorting money from them to the Police, and assured that the programs will further be improved to serve them better.
Drake Ssembusi, the district chairperson, asked the residents in all the subcounties where they went to remain in touch with the district leaders so that they keep reporting all the complaints they have.
“We are now constructing these roads, but you may not be happy with how a certain spot has been worked, so you call us and complain; we shall be there,” he said.
