Rt. Rev. Mike Chorey, the Bishop of Karamoja Diocese, has lauded the security forces in Karamoja for pacifying the sub-region.

He said for the past years, celebrating Christmas was not easy because of the chaos that involved killing and raiding livestock.

“Thank you for the calm we are experiencing in Karamoja today; just imagine how life would be if we were still facing those chaotic scenes,” he said.

Bishop Chorey made the remarks while presiding over the Christmas service at St. Peters Cathedral in Moroto district.

“This day, we join hands to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ; as we glorify him, it’s a testament in heaven that the son of God was born today. Through him, God expects us to grow into maturity,” Chorey said, adding that Jesus came to rescue humanity because God saw a huge gap between him and the people.

He reminded Christians to always celebrate Christmas while remembering that Christ is a redeemer who brought a new covenant of grace to the world.

“Do not walk in darkness but in the light,” the bishop said, adding that Jesus wants us to be citizens of heaven.

‘May the peace that reigns in eternity be bestowed upon the entire world.”

Moroto diocesan Bishop Gulio Guzetti asked all Christians to embrace the love for God, saying that the capability of God makes believers lead better lives.

Guzetti urged the Christians to receive the fullness of love from God as they celebrate the birth of Christ with affection and joy.
