KAMPALA - Christians hailing from Bukedi region but living and working in Kampala city have been urged to remain committed in their faith and united in purpose.

“Though we may live far from home, we remain part of one family bound by faith, love, and purpose,” Bukedi Diocese Bishop Samuel George Bogere Egesa says, urging believers to strengthen their spiritual ties both in Kampala and Bukedi.

Speaking during a Fellowship at All Saints Cathedral in Kampala, Egesa emphasised that unity and teamwork were essential to building a stronger faith community.

The service was also marked by worship, thanksgiving, and the inauguration of the new executive committee to guide the fellowship for 5 years under the chairpersonship of Dr Godfrey Siu.

Other key leaders include co-ordinator Rev. Patrick Nicholas Barasa, treasurer Stephen Nzogi, Mothers’ Union chairperson Lady Justice Sarah Langa Siu, and secretary and public relations officer Higenyi Nuer.

During the November 2, 2025, event, Egesa commended the new leadership for their commitment and urged Bukedi Christians in Kampala to remain united in faith and service to God.

The Fellowship brought together over 100 Christians from Bukedi Diocese. The event served as both a spiritual reunion and a milestone in strengthening the bond among the Bakedi community living in Kampala and surrounding areas.

Siu noted that the home of Bukedi Diocese Church of Uganda in Tororo is located  209 kilometres from Kampala, making it difficult for many Bakedi who live and work in the city and surrounding metropolitan areas to maintain a close home presence and regular fellowship.

He explained that the Bukedi Kampala Fellowship is, therefore, an intentional initiative by the diocese to extend the care and love of Jesus Christ to the Bakedi community in Kampala.

“It is a fellowship that provides a sense of belonging, love, and communion under the guidance of our Shepherd and Bishop Egesa,” he said.

The Bukedi Diocese Kampala Fellowship was established to create a sense of belonging and provide spiritual, emotional, and social support for Bukedi Christians living in Kampala.

It also aims to foster fellowship through regular worship, prayer, and outreach activities, while mobilising members to support diocesan programs and development back home.
