During the tournament launch at Kakira Sugar Ltd factory in Kakira, Jinja district, CFAO Motors Marketing Manager, Isaac Tegule, revealed that the 1.5cc Toyota Belta, a Sedan type worth $25,000 will be won by a lucky winner who will be able to score a hole-in-one at hole 18 at the Jinja Golf club.

The annual Kakira Golf Open will tee off at the Jinja Club on Thursday starting with the professionals’ category. 

But for this year’s edition, which is sponsored by CFAO Motors in partnership with Kakira Sugar Ltd, organisers for the 2022 Kakira Open Golf tournament have staked a special prize of a brand new Toyota Belta car as the prize for the hole-in-one. 

During the tournament launch at Kakira Sugar Ltd factory in Kakira, Jinja district, CFAO Motors Marketing Manager, Isaac Tegule, revealed that the 1.5cc Toyota Belta, a Sedan type worth $25,000 will be won by a lucky winner who will be able to score a hole-in-one at hole 18 at the Jinja Golf club. 

Tegule said they were delighted to be part of the sponsors of the Kakira Open Golf tournament for the second year. 

Jinja Golf Club’s captain, Dr. Fred Magala, said the tournament will start on November 10, 2022, with 40 professionals who will complete their 36 holes action on Friday.

He said that the professional kitty is sh10m that will be shared by the first ten players under the category.   

Magala said that 90 golfers in Group A with handicap 0-9 will compete on Friday adding that over 120 amateurs will compete in Group B and C for both Men and Ladies on Saturday. 

Jim Kabeho, a director in the Madhvani Group who accompanied Kakira Sugar Ltd Joint Managing Director, Kamlesh Madhvani, at the launch of the tournament, said that sh65m has been injected into the tournament. 

Kabeho said that the Managing Director of Petroleum Oil Uganda, Ernest Rubondo, is expected to be the chief guest at the tournament.

He added that various renovations have been done at the Jinja Golf Club, which include painting the Club’s roof by KSL, renovating the squash court by Excel Construction Company, and renovation of the snooker room by Toyota. 

Present at the launch was KSL General Manager, Christian Vincke, Isaac Namondo the Accounts Executive Corporate at CFAO Motors, Jerome Ssengoba, the chairman of Jinja Golf Club, and Georgiana Tumusiime a member of the Jinja Club.
