Journalist awarded sh30m in Anita Among torture case

Kareire told the court that Mpora and Aggrey Aruho, a bodyguard of Among, subjected him to torture and other human rights violations while he was in detention.

In a judgement dated May 20, 2026, Justice Simon Peter Kinobe of the High Court’s Civil Division ordered the Attorney General and Mpora to pay Kareire (Pictured) the money, ruling that the journalist was subjected to torture.
