Jopadhola King calls for calm as Tooro kingdom receives King Oyo's remains

The paramount chief of the Jopadhola community, Kwar Adhola Moses Stephen Owor, has called for calm among the people of Tooro as they prepare to receive the body of King Oyo Nyimba Kamba Iguru Rukidi IV for burial.
The 100-year-old Owor, who was hospitalised at Nakasero Hospital at the time of Oyo’s death, acknowledged the deceased for championing the establishment of the council of traditional leaders in Africa (COTLA) Uganda chapter. Owor commended King Oyo for the good work he has done during his reign.
Addressing the media at his palace in Amagoro village, Tororo municipality on Thursday (September 3), Owor said Oyo mobilised his people to promote development, social harmony, change and promoted social values among others during his reign, adding that his leadership will be dearly missed.
‘’The people of Padhola share a common historical ancestry with the royal clan of Tooro- the Babiito, including sharing names such as Olimi and Oyo. We are deeply saddened by this great loss of a young, industrious king, who had already made an indelible mark both in his kingdom and beyond,’’ Owor said.
Flanked by the Jopadhola prime minister, Josel Richard Obbo, Owor said during his short interaction with King Oyo, he found him to be a very active king who loved his people.
