The security operation targeting outgoing Speaker of Parliament Anita Among has widened significantly, with investigators expanding their search to a residence in Ntinda, Nakawa division, and another property in Kigo, Wakiso district.
The developments are directly linked to Saturday's high-profile security deployment at her MacKinnon Road home in Nakasero, Kampala.
The searches come a day after a heavy security deployment involving counter-terrorism officers and police operatives was mounted on May 16, 2026, around Among's principal residence on MacKinnon Road in Nakasero.
Although only a few operatives were visibly stationed at the main gate, the majority of the security personnel were deployed across the road, surrounding the home in what witnesses described as a highly tactical operation.
The operation, which began at 2:30 pm on Saturday, saw more than 15 vehicles, including Uganda Police branded pickups, vans and minibuses, converge on the residence.
Witnesses reported that several suitcases were loaded into a white police van before it was driven away from the scene.
Access to the residence was also restricted, with a truck blocking the road leading to her home.
At the entrance, three uniformed police officers were visibly positioned at the gate, while several plain-clothed operatives maintained positions across the road, monitoring the surroundings.
Sources familiar with the operation said investigations are being led by detectives from the Police Criminal Investigations Directorate, with support from the Forensics Directorate, Crime Intelligence, and the Kampala Metropolitan Police, which has jurisdiction over Kampala, Mukono and Wakiso.
Kampala North Regional Police Commander Moses Nanoka was present at the scene.
The move follows President Kaguta Museveni ordering a probe into Among over alleged money laundering and corruption.
The President has in recent public declarations, said that there will be no more tolerance for corruption in his new term of office.
