He advised them to continue serving the community with the skills they acquired from their long service in the force.

“You are retiring from this great institution, but not tired of doing public good." "Always be good emissaries of the Uganda Police force and never allow selfish interests to blemish the integrity, wisdom, and courage you have nurtured over the years in this great disciplinary institution,” he said.

The assistant commissioner of pension management at the ministry of public service, Ojok Ongom, urged the retirees to ensure that information in their documents is consistent to avoid hurdles while accessing their gratuity.

He also advised them to always fill out the life certificate form every year to avoid being scrapped off the pension payroll.

The retirees were awarded certificates of service. The AIGPs were awarded plaques for their service as directors in the force.

Ochom, who represented the retirees, asked the top management to work on fostering coordination between the retired and serving officers.

“The cooperation and the coordination between the retired and serving officers still leaves a lot to be desired. To our brothers in the UPDF, you are recognized as still part of the team. "The sense of belonging to the institution to which we have dedicated ourselves for the most valuable part of our lives is lacking,” said Ochom, who joined the force in 1987.
