IGP shuffles 21 senior police officers

The Uganda Police Force leadership has shuffled 21 senior officers, elevating some and transferring others to different duty stations.
Those moved include commissioners of police, assistant commissioners of police, senior superintendents of police, superintendents of police and assistant superintendents of police.
In a message sent out to all police units on September 8, Inspector General of Police Abas Byakagaba said; “the changes take immediate effect.”
The directorates and departments affected by the transfers include Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID), logistics and engineering, as well as traffic and road safety.
Commissioners moved
Commissioner of Police Richard Ecega, formerly a commissioner in the inspectorate department at police headquarters, has been moved to the directorate of logistics and engineering as acting deputy director.
Similarly, Commissioner of Police Thomas Kasimo, formerly in charge of collation in the Crime Intelligence Directorate, has been transferred to the directorate of logistics and engineering as acting deputy director in charge of classified stores.
According to the message, Commissioner of Police Charles Ssebambulidde, formerly acting deputy director in charge of classified stores in the Directorate of Logistics and Engineering, has been moved to the Internal Affairs Ministry as Commissioner for Peace and Security.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Henry Mugumya, who was acting commissioner of police in charge of the political and electoral department at the CID headquarters, was appointed acting deputy director, Special Investigations Division under CID.
Traffic police
Under the traffic and road safety directorate, Senior Superintendent of police Godwin Arinaitwe has been moved from Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP) traffic as commander to police headquarters.
Superintendent of police Anthony Nkesiga has been moved from traffic police headquarters to KMP as traffic commander, replacing Arinaitwe.
Superintendent of police Zuheilo Semukaya Kisubika has been transferred from North West Nile, where he was the regional traffic officer, to KMP South as the regional traffic officer.
Superintendent of police Gerald Joshua Otwom, who has been the KMP South regional traffic officer, has been moved to North West Nile as the regional traffic officer.
“The regional traffic officer for Busoga East, Superintendent of police Nasser Kizire, has been moved to head traffic in KMP East region. Superintendent of police Bruce Oinebye Kamunanwire moves from KMP East to Busoga East as the regional traffic officer,” the message said. Kamunanwire and Kizire swapped positions.
Superintendent of police Godfrey Mwesigye, who has been the KMP East regional traffic officer, is now the Albertine North regional traffic officer.
Logistics
Under logistics and engineering, Senior Superintendent of police Charles Wadenga, who was a fleet maintenance officer (vehicles), has been moved to the marine police as a fleet maintenance officer.
Superintendent of police Jasper Nduhukire, who was a logistics officer for the Anti-Stock Theft Unit (ASTU), takes over the office of fleet maintenance at ASTU.
Superintendent of police Elem Kizito, who has been a fleet management officer at KMP East, has been sent to the Directorate of Human Resource Administration and Management for redeployment.
Also, Superintendent of police Rose Aseku, who has been a fleet management officer for the fire transport pool, has been sent to the Directorate of Human Resource Administration and Management for redeployment.
The fleet management officer for transport in KMP South, Superintendent of Police Denis Tayebwa, has been moved to Naguru in the same position.
Assistant Superintendent of police Fatuma Kababi moves from logistics and engineering at police headquarters to become a fleet management officer for Police Standards Unit headquarters.
“The logistics officer at Police Training School Ikafe, Assistant Superintendent of police Paul Mugetum, will also take over the responsibility of fleet management officer at the training school,” the message said.
Assistant Superintendent of police Ronald Kumakech, who has been the fleet management officer for Aswa West region, now takes the management of the Nsambya pool fleet.
