Haruna Mubiru shocked that his concert is coinciding with Weasel, Acidic Vokoz shows

Kream Productions singer Haruna Mubiru has expressed shock that Weasel and Acidic Vokoz will stage concerts on the same day as his - August 9, 2024 - moreover in Kampala.

During an interview at his H&M Restaurant in Makindye, Kampala on Thursday, May 30, Haruna noted that he had been actively talking about his concert dates and venue - the Kampala Serena Hotel - in interviews with different media personalities since the beginning of the year, only to get the disturbing news.

Haruna on Weasel concert 
On Tuesday, May 28, promoter Nobat Events signed an agreement with Douglas Mayanja aka Weasel about organising him a concert at Hotel Africana, with the dates coinciding with those of Haruna.

On asking Haruna whether he had informed his friend, Nobat Events, about his impending concert, he replied that he did.

He expressed shock that Nobat chose the same date as his yet he knew about his concert. 

Haruna on Acidic Vokoz concert 
Haruna noted that their singing styles and audiences are different and, therefore, he has no problem with Acidic having a concert on the same date as his.  

He revealed that Acidic Vokoz is one of his favourite artistes, saying he enjoys his Last Chance song.

How problem came about
First, events promoter Abbey Musinguzi, commonly known as Abtex, announced the Ndi Musoga concert for Mutwahiru Kakaire known musically as Acidic Vokoz without specifying the venue on his social media platform handles. The announcement came after Ray G’s successful concert organised by Nobat Events at Lugogo Cricket Oval on May 10, 2024.

Abtex might have based on the success of Ray G's show, which mostly had people from the western region, where the singer hails comes from to also come up with Acidic Vokoz's concert.

Acidic hails from Namutumba district in eastern region, hence targeting the eastern region audience, mostly Basoga. Acidic has songs such as Last Chance and It's okay, which have dominated waves across the country. 

It makes business sense that Abtex would want to organise a concert for Acidic. The only problem was the dates, which were the same with those of Haruna Mubiru

Beef between Nobat Events and Abtex
Since Nobat and Abitex are not on good terms, Nobat might have intended to stage Weasel’s concert after realising that Abtex was trying to replicate what he had done for Ray G, so he decided to target the same dates. Their rivalry in business ended up drawing in a third party - Haruna. 

Haruna said he has no problem with the artistes, but the promoters behind the concerts. 
He observed that promoters are playing a big role in fanning wars among artistes in the name of showing superiority.  

He said he has taken 15 years without organising a concert, only for his concert to be affected by a rivalry between promoters. 

Haruna warned that if the promoters do not organise themselves better, the artistes themselves will start organising their concerts. urged the fans to support any of the three of them on that day. 

This is not the first time two or more artistes are having concerts in Kampala on the same day. In June 2023, Abtex was impeached by the promoters' asscociation for organising a concert on the same day as his colleague, Balaam Barugahara (now minister).
