Raphael p'Mony Wokorach, the Archbishop of the Gulu Archdiocese, has cautioned Christians against gender-based violence.

The bishop made this observation during a Christmas prayer service at St. Joseph's Cathedral in Gulu City.

Celebrating his first Christmas with the Christians of the Gulu Archdiocese since his appointment by Pope Francis, Bishop Wokorach emphasised that the celebration should be conducted peacefully, as it commemorates the birth of Jesus Christ.

Bishop Wokorach also urged Christians to share their resources with the less fortunate.

Addressing the issue of gender-based violence, he advised against violence between family members and encouraged peaceful conflict resolution.

"If the head of the family cannot buy meat, refrain from fighting. Pray to God for the means to acquire it, but avoid conflict," Bishop Wokorach said.

Hundreds of Christians attended the Christmas prayer service at St. Joseph's Cathedral in Gulu City; among them were Minister Norbert Mao, the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, and his wife, Beatrice Kayanja Mao.
